Ingredients:
  • 500 gm Manna rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon green cardamom
  • 1/2 cup refined oil
  • 300 gm powdered jaggery
  • 4 tablespoon urad dal
  • 2 pinch baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water

Method:
  • Make a thick batter by adding Manna rice flour to water. Ensure you don't add too much of water as the batter needs to be thick
  • Add the jaggery and cardamom powder to the batter. Mix it well
  • Add cooking soda and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Pour a small ladleful of the batter and fry it from both the sides until the appam turns golden brown in colour
  • Take the appam out and serve it hot with your favourite meat curry or vegetable curry
