- 500 gm Manna rice flour
- 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon green cardamom
- 1/2 cup refined oil
- 300 gm powdered jaggery
- 4 tablespoon urad dal
- 2 pinch baking soda
- 1/2 cup water
Method:
- Make a thick batter by adding Manna rice flour to water. Ensure you don't add too much of water as the batter needs to be thick
- Add the jaggery and cardamom powder to the batter. Mix it well
- Add cooking soda and mix well.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Pour a small ladleful of the batter and fry it from both the sides until the appam turns golden brown in colour
- Take the appam out and serve it hot with your favourite meat curry or vegetable curry
